The Winsor Birch art team from Carden Park headed to the much anticipated Manchester Art Fair last week. An annual art community get-together that has celebrated its 15th year of existence in 2023.
The Manchester Art Event, hosted in Manchester Central, provides a huge platform for a range of independent artists and galleries to showcase their work and discuss their creative development. The event aims to make art more accessible to all, blending contemporary and traditional styles across the exhibition helping to appeal to a diverse range of tastes. It is home to over 170 exhibitors, from emerging to well-established names in the art world.
A special guest was in tow; no other than comedian Johnny Vegas, who unveiled a number of his works for the first time under our resident curator Grant Ford’s stall. Many may not have been aware, but Vegas’ passion for art stems back over 30 years when he graduated in the subject of Art and Ceramics. He has now re-kindled his true passion for creativity, exhibiting five works including a bronze cast named ‘Norman’ affectionately inspired by the observational character he passed on his everyday school run. Johnny Vegas has described the Manchester Art Fair as his “happy place” and this is certainly reflected by our art team, who were elated to have him exhibit.
Alongside Johnny Vegas, you could view works from several of our favourite artists; Lilia-Orlova Holmes, Micheal Thacker, Matt Duke, Patt Bull, and Emma Rodgers. You can view their artwork in their more permanent residence at Carden Park Hotel. Our art specialists opted to display modestly sized sculptures and pieces to appeal to a larger audience at the stand. The team were overwhelmed with the traffic to the exhibit and thoroughly enjoyed discussing the works with everyone.
Winsor Birch is truly passionate about the Northern art movement, being the curator of one of the largest Sculpture Gardens and Commercial Art collections, which calls Carden Park Hotel home. To be a part of this event presented the perfect opportunity to showcase all that we have to offer to collectors and enthusiasts alike.
