Meet Our Sales Manager: Daniel McDonald

 

Can you share a bit about your role and responsibilities?

I started my journey with Carden Park in March 2017, initially within the Golf Sales team. Just over a year later, I transitioned to the Conference Sales office, where I gained invaluable experience in reactive sales. From there, I advanced to the role of Sales Office Manager, where I led a dedicated team overseeing all aspects of meetings, events, and weddings. Today, as a Sales Manager, I’m privileged to work closely with both clients and agents, primarily across the North of the country.

 

What appeals to you about the events industry?

For me, it’s all about the people. Whether it’s collaborating with industry colleagues or connecting with clients, I thrive on the personal interactions that this industry offers. I am excited by the opportunity to travel, building relationships, and showcasing the exceptional offerings of a place like Carden Park.

 

What is the process once someone contacts you about an event?

In proactive sales, our role is to generate new inquiries and drive business to the venue. When an inquiry comes in, we collaborate closely with our colleagues in the reactive sales team to check availability and provide detailed quotes. This seamless coordination ensures a smooth and efficient booking process for our clients and their events.

 

What makes a good conference or event based on your experience?

Clear and consistent communication is key. From the initial inquiry to the final pre-event details, maintaining a transparent and open dialogue with our clients and agents is crucial. This approach ensures that every aspect of the event is meticulously planned and executed to perfection.

 

How have you seen the events industry evolve in recent years?

Post-pandemic, there’s been a noticeable shift in client expectations. Rarely do people now seek just a simple meeting room. At Carden, we’re uniquely positioned to cater to this evolving demand. Whether it’s incorporating team-building activities, a relaxing spa experience, or a round of golf, we offer a comprehensive, well-rounded experience that goes beyond the ordinary.

What’s your favourite spot at Carden Park and why?

Without a doubt, the Spa Garden. It’s a sanctuary where you can completely unwind and genuinely switch off. 

 

When you’re not working, how do you like to spend your time?

I’m fortunate to have a beautiful 9-month-old daughter who keeps my wife and me very busy. Family time is incredibly important to me, and I love being a hands-on dad. I’m also an avid supporter of Wrexham FC and enjoy cheering on my team as a season ticket holder.
