Investing In Electric Greenkeeping Machinery

Our Greenkeeping team are firm believers in creating a more sustainable future for the hotel grounds and as such have the relevant strategies in place to make the move to electric machinery.

One of their most recent investments has been making the switch from their diesel mowers used to maintain our two championship golf courses. Carden Park is now the proud owner of two Greensmaster® eTriFlex electric mowers. The benefits of investing in this machinery include:

  • Reduced impact on the environment: Electric mowers benefit from being emission-free in comparison to diesel alternatives which emit harmful pollutants. This also has a benefit to our team operating them with greater air quality within their working space.

  • Less noise pollution: the electrical machinery we have invested in is significantly quieter than its predecessors. This is an important factor when we are maintaining grounds near our hotel rooms. It also means our team are less restricted by the times of the day they can work as it will cause zero disruption to the peaceful countryside surroundings at Carden Park.

  • Minimal Hazards: The new mowers have no hydraulic fluid or other harmful chemicals that could damage the areas they are being used to maintain. Leaks are often part and parcel of diesel machinery which means potential burns to the greens.

  • Long-term lower costs: Although the initial financial output has been a significant investment we expect to reap the rewards as part of a future-proof sustainable strategy. The running costs are reduced significantly, for example, an individual Greensmaster® eTriFlex machine now costs 27 pence to charge overnight. Where previously we would need to fill three-quarters of a tank at approximately 58p a litre of diesel. There is also less maintenance involved in maintaining this vital kit, meaning less downtime thus improved productivity output.

  • Enhanced cutting performance: The electric mowers we have bought benefit from industry-leading cutting technology. The flexibility and new Radius Dependent Speed Systemassist in better maintaining the standard of the courses for our golfers.

The team plans to continue to replace retiring greenkeeping machinery in their fleet with more sustainable alternatives as standard. They already have an expansive collection of electric hand tools such as; leaf blowers, strimmers and hedge trimmers. Each with its particular practical benefits such as reduced hand/arm vibration for the user beyond being kinder to the environment.
