A Day In The Life Of A Housekeeper At Carden Park- GUEST BLOG

Housekeeping is one of the most important departments at Carden Park. It is their job to help keep our 198 luxurious rooms spotlessly clean for our fantastic guests to relax and appreciate the joys of their own room within 1000 acres of Cheshire countryside.

But what does a day entail for our hardworking housekeepers? Rachel, our Housekeeping Manager tells us about a day in the life of a room assistant.

First things first…

“Firstly, we enter the office and sign in. It is vitally important that we then check the daily rooms board to see the ones that will have to be cleaned for that day. We will then proceed to get the items we use to carry out our daily routines in the rooms, like our trolleys, chemical buckets, hoovers and linen trucks, which we will need to stock with appropriate bedding beforehand”.

What happens when our guests leave their rooms after the perfect nights stay?

“We then proceed to clear their rooms. First, we strip the beds, tie the curtains back and open the windows to allow that fresh country air into the room. We then empty the bins and remove any other items left in the room, some of which will go to our lost property office. We then bag all the rubbish up and start the cleaning in the kitchen. We wash, dry and replace any used cups and glasses before moving on to the bathroom, which we clean efficiently from top to bottom. In the bedroom, we dust all the surfaces before hoovering the carpets and meticulously cleaning the wooden floors. Lastly, we close the windows, spray air freshener to welcome our new guests and double check if the room is as is you would like to find it”.

The next and final step…

When the room is all done and dusted, we cross it off on our board, make a note of any maintenance issues and inform the supervisor. The above process is then repeated for each room on our checklist. On completion, we then take all the rubbish accumulated in all the rooms to the skip, before restocking our trolleys and returning any unused linen to our laundry department. Finally, we hand in our daily worksheet and key before swiping out of the office and making our way home.”
