Celebrating our New PGA Golf Professionals

At Carden Park Hotel, we pride ourselves on being a premium destination for golfers, offering two championship golf courses and a commitment to developing the next generation of talent. Recently two familiar faces, Robbie Brown and Dan Lloyd reached an incredible milestone by qualifying as PGA Professionals after three years of rigorous training.

The Journey to Becoming PGA Golf Professionals

Robbie and Dan began their professional journey at Carden Park as PGA Assistants. Their qualification process was part of a comprehensive course affiliated with Birmingham University. It utilised an open learning approach that combined practical and theoretical education. This globally recognised golf qualification involved a mix of written assignments, practical examinations and traditional written exams.

The course was a progression of learning and skill-building in both coaching and golf technique:

  • Year One: Focused on foundational coaching for children and understanding health and safety in golf.
  • Year Two: Delved into individual coaching, refining techniques for players of all levels.
  • Year Three: Explored the science and technical aspects of golf, taking a deeper dive into understanding the finer details of the sport.

After completing these steps successfully Robbie and Dan earned their PGA Professional status, marking a significant achievement in their careers.

A Passion for Golf Coaching

Both Robbie and Dan are eager to expand their golf coaching portfolios for children and adults, sharing their love for golf. When asked what they enjoy most about coaching, they provided heartfelt insights:

Dan Lloyd: Dan treasures the connection with people. “It’s a hobby that elicits a lot of passion and people’s moods genuinely improve when they see progress in their play,” he says. Having started playing golf with his dad at the age of five, Dan’s lifelong love for the game drives his enthusiasm for helping others.

Robbie Brown: Robbie believes golf is “the best game on the planet.” He loves how the sport continually evolves, describing it as “a game of a lifetime.” Starting at 13 he was inspired by the latent of his brother and his brother’s friends. For Robbie, golf is not just a game but a passport to visiting some of the world’s most beautiful places.

Inspiring the Next Generation of Golfers

One of their proudest achievements at Carden Park has been their involvement in the Junior Golf Academy. Robbie and Dan are passionate about making golf more accessible to children in the Cheshire area, aiming to inspire the golfers of the future.

They note that children progress rapidly, often surprising their coaches with how quickly they improve from lesson to lesson. Dan and Robbie find joy in nurturing young talent, believing that fostering early interest in golf can lead to a lifetime of enjoyment and achievement.

Golf Mentorship and Looking Ahead

Both Robbie and Dan credit their success to the mentorship of David Llewellyn, the 86th Captain of the PGA. David’s guidance has been instrumental in helping them grow as players and coaches. His exceptional communication skills and supportive nature have inspired Robbie and Dan, who consider him not just a mentor but a friend.

With the resources and support available at Carden Park, Robbie and Dan are excited to reach their full potential as PGA Professionals. They recognise that the effort they invest will directly impact their ability to help others. Whether coaching beginners or experienced players, from 5 years old to 80 years plus – they are ready to make a difference.

Carden Park is proud to have Robbie Brown and Dan Lloyd on our team. Their passion, expertise and commitment to the sport embody what makes our own golf experiences exceptional. If you’re looking to elevate your game, there’s no better time to book a session with these newly qualified professionals and experience the substantial difference their coaching can make.
