A Sustainability Update: Progressing on Our Green Journey

At our Hotel, we continue to strive towards sustainability, making meaningful changes that not only benefit the environment but also enhance the overall experience we offer our guests. Two significant initiatives have recently taken place, marking important steps forward in our commitment to a greener future.

Reducing Plastic With Our Linen Deliveries

Our linen delivery process has recently taken a leap in reducing single-use plastics, thanks to our partnership with Johnsons Linen. Instead of individually wrapped items, which contributed to unnecessary plastic waste, we have now transitioned to using RFID hampers. This system helps us track the linen more efficiently and allows for smoother operations.

The easy-to-use system is colour-coded; dark blue, light blue and silver – depending on the items being delivered. Used linen is then returned in laundry cages, which are reusable and have a far lower environmental impact than the plastic wraps.

Johnsons Linen shares our commitment to sustainability and they have made substantial progress towards reducing their carbon footprint. Almost 50% of their fleet is already made up of electric vehicles and they continue to work towards cutting down plastic usage, improving recycling efforts and are reducing carbon emissions successfully year on year. This partnership is a perfect fit for us as we aim to move forward in a environmentally-friendly way. Benefiting both our business and the planet.

Introducing Wall-Mounted Refillable Toiletries

In another step towards sustainability, we’ve recently started to introduce wall-mounted refillable toiletries in our recently refurbished hotel bedrooms. The luxury toiletries include shampoo, conditioner and body wash. After carefully selecting the right brand to match our standards of quality, we are excited to announce we will now provide our guests with Molton Brown products.

The chosen scent, a refreshing blend of Mandarin and Clary Sage is made with natural ingredients such as peel extract and clary sage flower. Not only do these luxurious toiletries elevate the guest experience but Molton Brown also aligns perfectly with our sustainability goals. The brand is Leaping Bunny Approved, ensuring cruelty-free practices and they use 100% renewable electricity for their manufacturing processes. Produced locally in Elsenham, their environmentally responsible approach makes them a great choice to align with our initiatives.

This move marks a significant step in reducing waste associated with single-use plastic bottles, further aligning our guest amenities with our ongoing commitment to sustainability.

From eliminating plastic waste in linen delivery to introducing refillable, eco-friendly toiletries in our rooms. Each step we take is a part of our broader commitment to creating a more sustainable future. We are always exploring new ways to improve our environmental impact while ensuring that our guests continue to enjoy their luxury hotel break with the level of comfort they expect
